Timo Zacherl has recently pitches their Oracle Database Driver for incubation with the SSWG. Support for this database has been notoriously lacking, leaving many enterprise organisations unable to implement Server-Side Swift while keeping their preferred database.

Since Amazon has released Amazon Linux 2023 in March of last year, many users have been eager to see Swift support. This week Neil Jones, the maintainer of swiftlang.xyz, has announced that they have added support for Swift on Amazon Linux 2023. In the same post, they've also announced an RPM repository for Swift.

This week, Tim Condon announced that a new edition of the Server-Side Swift Conference. It's set to take place in the London Science Museum, and happening on September 26 & 27. This annual event is a great opportunity to meet other Swift developers, and learn about the latest developments in the Server-Side Swift ecosystem.

Task executor preferences has been accepted in Swift Evolution! This new proposal allows frameworks such as Vapor and Hummingbird to run request handlers on a EventLoop. This allows for further performance optimisations across the ecosystem.
